Thank You, Corporate Overlord, And Good Night!

Ladies and gentlemen, the Elvis tattoo is leaving the building for the very last time.

I’ve changed my voicemail message to say, “Hi, this is Chuck. I don’t work here anymore.”

I’m about to turn in my laptop, and I will NOT be removing all the radio station stickers I’ve put on it over the years:

(Ewww! The VP who reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz just came by for a hug — blinking back tears, of course. Ewww!!!)

And since I keep talking about the Elvis tattoo but you’ve probably never seen it, here’s a picture of it:

And now… Now I’m going to reformat my hard drive, power the laptop down, and hit the road.

I’m free.

  1. Jim says:

You keep calling that an Elvis Tattoo. I do not think that word means what you think it means.

    (Elvis? What is TCB?)

  2. Carol says:

    Isn’t that a yogurt company?

No, wait – that’s TCBY. Eh, close enough.

  3. Chuck says:

TCB with the lightning bolt means “Taking Care of Business in a flash.” It’s a design Elvis came up with for rings (or it might have been bracelets, I’m not sure) he had custom made for all the members of his “Memphis Mafia.”

Thusly, it’s very much an Elvis tattoo. And interestingly enough (or maybe not – ha), I had it done in Memphis on Beale Street by a guy named King.

  4. Jim says:

OK, I guess it does mean what you thought it means.

I should have known better than to match wits with a Sicilian, or whatever you are. ;)

  5. Lesley says:

Free. It’s such a nice word.

  6. David says:

Cue Johnny Paycheck singing ‘Take this job and shove it’ as the the Elvis tatoo strides defiantly out of the building… fade to black… aaaaaand cue the credits.

Good luck Chuck (I hate it when sincere wishes rhyme… it sounds so insincere!!!). It’s times like this that I wish I had more professional contacts in SoCal.

If you need a totally awesome (but totally bogus) professional recommendation, just let me know. :-)
