Th-Th-That's All, Folks!

I've given this a lot of thought over the last couple of weeks, but now that I've decided and I'm actually saying it, I think I've made the right decision. I think.

I'm quitting the 'stake.

I've been doing this for 2 and a half years now and I'm tired. I started out going great guns, posting almost every day, and I had a lot of fun doing it. But as time goes by this is becoming more and more of a chore and less and less fun. You've seen it happening -- I'm posting less and less frequently, the entries are getting lame, the jokes aren't that funny... I'm all used up. Better that I quit now, rode hard and put up wet, than beat this horse until it's dead.

The more paranoid among you will note the suspicious coincidence that I'm making this announcement on April Fool's Day. Let me assure you: this is not a gag, it's for real. I know the timing is unfortunate, it's just that my plans for this morning fell through and I found myself with a few empty hours so I decided to stop putting it off and get this done. Call this an April Fool's prank if you will, but you'll have to call it what it is tomorrow: Over.

Thanks for reading me over the years. I hope you've gotten something out of all this -- and knowing that I've made a few enemies with this space, I hope the majority of you got some laughs rather than some bile. For those of you who got bile... Um, sorry. No hard feelings, okay? (Or not. I'll be gone, so I really won't care.) For those who got laughs and sent nice letters and kept coming back... Thanks. Really. I'll miss y'all.
