I owe a link here. The Sole Proprietor took our Mojave story and ran with it, crafting a fine, fine spin-off of Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, featuring Steve and myself on our way to The Booth. It's really well done, and really worth your time. You should read it. As I told the Sole Prop: "I feel as though the good Doctor himself had written about me. Finally, I am a part of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas! Life as a fictional character. Hmm, not bad... |
Well,
it's official. Or it will be in about 12 hours: Steve
and I are celebrities. In Scotland, anyway.
Among
the many readers of the Mojave Phone
Booth page was a gentleman who does a weekly show on entertaining
websites for BBC Radio Scotland. He liked the phone booth story, thought
it fell under the heading of "entertaining," and he wants
to interview us on his show. Clearly, he needs to get out of the recording
booth. (And into the Mojave Booth!)
Who
was it that said "Any publicity is good publicity"? I don't
know either, but Steve and I are adopting the saying. We're media whores;
we're doing the interview. The details on whether our $1,000,000 speaking
fee will be paid in cash or coupons haven't been sorted out yet, but
we're going forward anyway on faith.
Want
to hear us on the air? Move to Scotland, I guess. That's the sure-fire
way to do it. I don't know if BBC Radio Scotland broadcasts on the net
or not, but if they do we'll be on tomorrow (Friday) morning at about
11:15 a.m. Scotland time. That works out to be 3:15 a.m. California
time. I don't know what that works out to for your time; you'll have
to do your own math.
See
you on the radio!
