8, 1999 This is the second entry I'm writing for tonight. I started an entry about the fact that in a very short amount of time my journal has become modestly popular. This is a small source of good-natured contention around here and sometimes Chuck acts like I only post to make him look bad. I contend that you can't make someone look bad. They do that for themselves. Then there are threats of rebuttals to post the actual facts since I skew them. Let's point out once again that this journal is about BETH'S WORLD and in my world this is how things are. In other people's worlds they can have their own realities. I'm addicted to checking the counter on my journal. I must check that thing like 5000 times a day. Then I check my e-mail. Every day. All day. It's embarrassing. I'm a geek. I am addicted to computer games. Not fancy Duke Nukem kinda games but Rattler Race and Word Zap. Stupid Windows games. And solitaire. I can play for hours. An entire evening can completely slip away and I will have accomplished absolutely nothing more than achieving another high score in Rattler Race. I'm not proud of this but there it is. I love fried food. I particularly love fried starches. Give me french fries and a Dr. Pepper and I'll be yours. To make it worse, I like mayonnaise on my fries. Can I have some fat with my fat please. I love In Style magazine. It is one of the few magazines I take a subscription to. You'd be surprised to find out how many of your friends read this magazine. I know I was. As soon as a new issue arrives in the mail I sit down and read it cover to cover. I am very disappointed with the new lineup on the Food Network. I used to go to bed at 11 and watch Cooking Live. Now it's on at 10 and they've changed the format. Sarah has all these superfluous guests and she doesn't wear those smart little chef's jackets anymore. It's more like a chat show with some cooking thrown in. Very disappointing. Now at 11 is Emeril and then a reformatted Ready Set Cook. (Sissy Biggers has a really big head). Then The Galloping Gourmet. Sheesh. There's absolutely no motivation for me to get in bed at a decent hour anymore. To make matters worse, Nick at Night has decided to show WKRP in Cincinnati non stop from like 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. So I don't get to watch Cooking Live anymore and now no more Mary Tyler Moore! What is this world coming to? Until next time. . .
